I.Types and Distribution of Construction Waste

Construction waste refers to sludge, residue, mud and other wastes produced by construction, construction units or individuals in the process of construction, demolition, repair and decoration of various buildings and structures. According to source classification, construction waste can be divided into five categories: land excavation, road excavation, demolition of old buildings, construction and construction materials production waste. According to the nature of construction waste, it can be divided into inert part and non-inert part. With the acceleration of urbanization process, the generation and discharge of construction waste in cities are also growing rapidly. While enjoying urban civilization, people are also suffering from the troubles caused by urban garbage, of which construction garbage accounts for a considerable proportion, accounting for about the total amount of garbage.

II. Present Situation of Construction Waste Treatment in China

For a long time in the past, the construction industry in our country used traditional construction methods, which consumed a lot of raw materials, coupled with backward management, resulting in a large amount of construction waste.Although the development and utilization of new building materials have begun, the scale and quantity are still very limited. Construction waste is widely distributed and varies in scale. With the constant change of construction projects, the generation time of construction waste is uncertain. Although the total amount of waste generated in a relatively long period of time is basically fixed, it can not accurately predict the time and quantity of each construction waste site in advance.

On the one hand, there is a lack of effective management of construction waste. There are still some phenomena of construction waste piled up and dumped in disorder. The construction waste is not dynamically monitored, classified and counted, which leads to insufficient understanding of the production, disposal, backfill and utilization of construction waste. On the other hand, the treatment method is backward, usually without any disposal, it is transported to the suburbs or rural areas, using open-air stacking or landfill to deal with, consuming a lot of construction costs such as land requisition fees, garbage clearance and transportation. At the same time, the dust and fly ash during the cleaning and stacking process have caused serious environmental pollution. In addition, the state has not yet established perfect laws and regulations to prohibit the landfill of available construction waste, stipulating that construction waste must be classified collection and storage. China passed the Law on the Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste in January, requiring the garbage-producing departments to pay garbage treatment fees. However, this charging method can not fundamentally block the source of construction waste, and does not involve the recycling and reuse of construction waste, lack of recycling concept of construction waste, and lack of comprehensive utilization facilities.

III. Use of Construction Waste

Construction waste is not "garbage", but a renewable resource. The main components of construction waste are: soil, dregs, waste reinforcing bars, scrap wire and various scrap steel accessories, scrap metal pipeline scrap, scrap bamboo, wood chips, particles, packaging boxes of various decorative materials, packaging bags, scattered mortar and concrete, broken bricks and concrete blocks, yellow sand, stones and stones scattered during transportation, etc. These materials account for about 80% of the total construction waste. The proportion of garbage is slightly different in construction sites with different structural forms; the level of construction management is different, and the amount of garbage varies greatly. After sorting, removing or crushing, most of the wastes in construction waste can be reused as renewable resources, such as scrap steel bar, scrap iron wire, scrap wire and various scrap steel fittings.
